Clawfoot Bathtubs Provide a Victorian Look

Many people choose to live in older homes. Often times a new modern décor does not work in this type of setting. It is easy to furnish a home such as this with antiques and period pieces to achieve a more traditional look. However, it is much harder to deal with the bathroom and achieve the same traditional look. There are a few things that you can do to achieve a Victorian look for your bathroom by making a few simple changes.

The first thing you should do is get rid of any old traditional bathtubs or shower inserts. These will never fit in with the decor you are trying to achieve. There are many new varieties of claw foot bathtubs that will work much better for the look you are trying to achieve. These newer clawfoot bathtubs also are often quite smaller than a traditional bathtub and take up less space. However, like most small bathtubs, they can still accommodate a full size adult and allow them to completely soak in the tub.

The next thing you want to do is get rid of any type of vanity and replace it with a pedestal sink. This will fit in much more with your look. If space allows, you may be able to fit a Victorian dresser with a mirror in the bathroom which could really set your bathroom apart from others. This dresser could provide you with plenty of storage space for towels and any other bathroom toiletries.

Finally, a stained glass window in the bathroom would look great. You do not have to replace your window entirely with a stained-glass window. Maybe you could find a suitable piece of stained glass and simply attach it over the top portion of the window. This will still allow you to use the window for opening and closing, but you will still have the great Victorian look with stained-glass.
